Water: a precious resource
Water is one of the most important commodities in the world. The human body in composed of approximately 70% of water and the average human requires around 1.5 – 2 liters of water daily. To which, we add around 150 liters for domestic hygiene and even more notably via indirect consumption. Consider that on average 15,000 liters of water are required just to produce 1 kg of beef (source: FAO website – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
Fresh water, so precious it’s also been called “blue gold”, isn’t readily available to everybody, with 750 million people that today still do not have direct access to drinking water. (Source Unicef, Oxfam, Actionaid…).
Also, westernized countries are suffering more and more from water shortages, due to the poor use of this resource, and reducing rainfall.
Just a few days ago it was announced that the Po, the largest river in Italy, in June of this year reached a level 65% lower than the monthly average of previous years.
What can we do?
Different international protocols are beginning to set out a path which provides guidance on what can be done to lighten our environmental footprint, with indications on the correct use of water resources (refer to UNESCO for some of the most significant documents to date).
However, in the wait for more concrete action from governments and institutions, there are many things that can be done by both individuals and businesses. The benefit of course, is that in addition to giving our ecosystem the best chance to develop, saving water leads to direct economic savings.
In the industrial cleaning environment?
To keep a company clean, the use of sufficient water during scrubbing is essential to obtain good results, but the unconditional use of clean water isn’t always necessary.

For safety and precision operators will often slowdown the machine before making a turn or to pass close to an object. With the FlowMASTER, in these situations, the flow of cleaning solution reduces gradually avoiding a buildup of excessive water, eliminating unnecessary wastage, and left behind streaks that diminish the quality of cleaning.
On the ECO version machines, the maximum water flow level can be directly adjusted at the touch of a button, permitting further management of consumption according to the characteristics of the floor and the degree of dirt.

With the ECOsystem it is no longer necessary to empty and refill the tank at every use, because it is possible to use the same, recycled solution, more than once. To clean a surface of 1.000 m2,for example, where a standard scrubber-dryer would normally require more than 160 litres of water, choosing to use the ECOsystem, means that one quarter of the amount of water is sufficient.
