At Eureka, growth also means efficiency gains in the production process, aimed at ensuring a faster response to market needs, reduced costs, and increased environmental sustainability.
Eureka has embraced the principles of Lean Production for many years now. However, along with a recent expansion of the production area and the start-up of new production lines, our company decided to go one step further, inaugurating an in-house Continuous Improvement Office in collaboration with experts from Henka Srl, coordinated by Eureka’s own experts, Matteo Garziera, Monica Lago and Antonio Rizzo. The aim was to ensure that all development decisions are guided by a process of renewal and efficiency improvement.
One of the first departments considered and reviewed by the new CIO was the in-house metalworking section. This department has always been a flagship for Eureka, which has chosen to distinguish itself from most other major manufacturers in the cleaning sector by keeping metalworking in-house in order to maintain full control over and maximise the quality of metal work, which is essential to the solidity and durability of floor cleaning machines.
The Continuous Improvement Department's review was undertaken with a view to expanding metalworking operations and adding two strategic, modern machining centres while simultaneously implementing a functional reorganisation of the entire section.
The results demonstrate that logistic flows have greatly improved, with work centre provisioning times falling by an average of 58%. Work processes have also been standardised, safety and working conditions for operators improved, and efficiency and long-term sustainability optimised, leading to a significant +15% improvement in the overall production capacity of Eureka’s metalworking department.
